Harvest Date: April 5th – 20th 2022Yunnan Purple Buds is a black tea made from a rare purple leaf tea cultivar called Zi Juan, or "Purple Beauty."
Zi Juan produces beautiful reddish-purple leaves that are high in anthocyanins, a family of red and blue antioxidants found in fruits like blueberries, blackcurrants, grapes and butterfly pea flowers.
In recent years, Zi Juan has become a popular tea in China as a unique source for these healthful plant pigments, catechins and dynamic aroma. Yunnan Purple Buds is grown in an organic and biodiverse tea garden in a lush mountainous region of Yunnan’s Lincang territory boarding Burma.
Wa Shan is a famous tea mountain since ancient times named after the Wa ethnic minority group who calls it home and who has farmed tea for more than a thousand years in this region.
Add 4g - 5g to a Gaiwan or Gongfu teapot (per 150ml-200ml).
Use 212°F water.
Do not rinse this tea.
Infuse the 1
st brew for 2 - 3 minutes.
Repeat several times until the flavor and aroma of the tea dissipates. As the brewing session ensues, increase the infusion time to coax out the body and strength of the final infusions.
