How to Prepare High-End Matcha
Premium matcha is a tea powder, so its preparation is different from how you would prepare loose leaf tea or sachet teabags. To prepare premium matcha using the traditional Japanese method, sift one teaspoon of powder into a traditional chawan, or bowl. Heat 2.5 ounces of water to 170℉, then pour it into your bowl. Whisk briskly in a "Z or M motion for about 15 seconds, creating a smooth, velvety foam. If bubbles don’t begin to form, increase your whisking speed slightly. Gradually add more hot water, adjusting to your preferred strength and texture.
