Unlike ornamental hibiscus flowers, it is the calyx of the shrubby Hibiscus sabdariffa plant that is used for making a tangy-sweet herbal tea that is equally delicious brewed hot or iced. Harvested by hand when plump and juicy, hibiscus makes a full-bodied, crimson colored infusion with a flavor similar to tart cranberry. Hibiscus is used in culinary and drinks recipes by cultures spanning equatorial latitudes from Southeast Asia to the Caribbean.

Hibiscus tea
I love my new tea. It's hard to find hibiscus tea that doesn't have other ingredients in it. It's supposed... to be beneficial for blood pressure so I drink two cups a day and the one pound bag is the most cost efficient product I've found. Plus I just like the flavor of this tea. You can always add other ingredients if you want but you can't remove them. You can tell this is a high quality tea for the money. I will order again.
Finding this hibiscus tea was such a win! The flavor is strong - I add a bit of sweetener so it is tart... and sweet. Having had other brands, the first thing I noticed was how bright and fresh looking the hibiscus leaves are from Rishi. The taste is delightful - hot or cold. Hibiscus tea has numerous health benefits as well.
