Shoraku Sasaki Kuroraku Chojiro Matcha Bowl
About This Product
Raku-yaki is a unique type of Japanese pottery created for the purpose of the Japanese tea ceremony, developed in Kyoto several centuries ago. It is hand-formed and has a heat-resistant structure that is easy to hold. This bowl is made from a pottery clay with a kase glaze that beautifully reflects the green color of matcha. This tea bowl is a reproduction of the representative work of "Daikoku" by the first-generation Shoraku Chojiro.
“Sasaki Shoraku” founded the Shoraku Kiln in Kyoto, Kiyomizu-zaka in 1905. He moved to the vicinity of Yada Shrine in Kameoka, Kyoto, in 1944. He became a disciple of his father, the second-generation Shoraku, in 1963. In 1983, he succeeded as the third generation Shoraku under the name Seiunken Sasaki Shoraku and is a national treasure artist.
