About this tea

Silver Needles white tea is a traditional Tribute Tea — a tea so precious it was reserved for the Emperor and the royal family. Made of hand-plucked tea buds specifically harvested in the early springtime, it takes over 30,000 buds to produce one kilogram of Silver Needles. Our organic Silver Needles tea is uniquely sourced from Mengku and Menghai broad-leaf tea tree groves in the remote mountains of China’s Yunnan Province. Like old grape vines, ancient tea trees yield complexities not found in other tea cultivars. This tea's sweet, nectar-like flavor and fruity aroma are examples of that varietal expression. Silver Needles is exceedingly rare and beloved by tea connoisseurs.

FAQs

How should I store Silver Needles tea?

Like other loose leaf teas, our Silver Needles tea should be stored in a cool, dry place in an airtight container to preserve the flavor and aroma of the buds.

Is organic Silver Needles tea high in caffeine?

As a white tea, Silver Needles has a medium amount of caffeine. Generally, white teas are low in caffeine compared to other tea types like black, green, and Oolong. That said, Silver Needles is made from young tea buds, and since tea plants store their caffeine at the buds and leaf tips, this tea has a higher caffeine content than other white varieties.

What is the best way to enjoy Silver Needles white tea?

Tea as rare as Silver Needles deserves to be relished. Traditional brewing methods such as using a gaiwan will help bring out its refreshing and subtle flavors. Alternatively, you can use a glass teapot which allows you to see the tea buds infuse into the water.
