Artemisia is an herb that has had many names over thousands of years of use, including Qinghai 青蒿, sweet wormwood and Artemisia annua. Culturally rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, artemisia was first notated in The Divine Farmer’s Materia Medica. This plant has a tannin structure, notable polyphenols and aromatic compounds like green tea, but is caffeine-free.
Many of the same aromatic compounds in artemisia are also contained in lemongrass, verbena, wintergreen, and other types of herbs. The components coumarin and quinine are also found in the plant, which are a key ingredient in tonic water and tea cocktails.

Sweeten It With Honey
I bought a ton of this without trying it first because of the chestnut notes it advertised. I usually... sweeten my tea with monk fruit; and it tasted so bitter, it was awful. I decided to try different types of sweeteners before leaving a final review. I sweetened it with chestnut honey instead and it was excellent. It tasted like chestnut green tea. This chestnut honey is not flavored like chestnuts, it’s pollinated from chestnut trees. I haven’t tried other honey varieties or date syrup etc. but I will. I am now very glad I bought it.
I stopped drinking caffeine to improve my quality of sleep. I miss the more earthy flavors available... among green and white teas. Artemisia is the best caffeine free replacement for green team I've found since I've made this transition.
