Enjoy Teas from Around the World

Select from our collection of sachet and loose leaf single-origin black teas and black tea blends sure to wake you up with its boldness, caffeine content, and floral flavors. This type of tea is one of the most popular around the world, with well known favorites like Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Chai blends and Yunnan. We work incredibly closely with the farmers we source from to bring you high quality, exquisite tea that is highly representative of the environs it is grown in.

How to Brew Organic Black Tea

These teas are hearty and robust, holding up to strong brews for tea lattes or delicate multiple-brew ceremonies. To brew a classic cup, we suggest using 1.5 tablespoons of tea or one tea bag with 12 ounces of boiling water, steeping for 4 to 5 minutes. Depending on the preparation, such as with a stovetop Chai or Southern Sweet Iced Tea, you may want to brew for a longer period of time or a stronger concentrate. Keep in mind, longer steeping will accentuate the drying tannins and bitter notes of the tea.

FAQs

This tea variety is produced from the Camellia sinensis plant like all other teas, but is oxidized the most compared to green or white teas. This results in a bolder, richer flavor and a higher tannin count.

“Red Tea” or “Hong Cha” is simply another term for black tea, which is how it is referred to in Asia, due to the reddish pigments that are produced when the tea leaves are rolled and oxidized. In the West, sometimes red teas refer to caffeine-free Rooibos or Red Bush teas, harvested from the Aspalathus linearis shrub, but when we refer to “black and red teas,” we are referring to teas of the Camellia sinensis plant.

While different types of teas are grown around the world, our teas are typically sourced from their traditional areas of harvest in South and Southeast Asia, including China, India, Japan and more. You can find the exact origin of your tea on its product page or find region-specific teas by exploring our interactive origins map.

Our sachet and loose leaf black teas tend to have some of the highest caffeine content out of all of the classifications, often only rivaled by some green teas. As a natural product, however, the caffeine content in these teas can vary slightly.
