Pleasant pungency with fruity-floral aromas that evoke aromatic citrus and flowers

About This Tea

Turmeric has a long history of medicinal and culinary uses in foods and beverages. The Red turmeric variety from Taiwan has a higher level of curcumin than the more common type of yellow “curry” turmeric. Taiwan Red Turmeric is typically used for pharmaceutical and botanical extraction industries due to its higher antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effects. Red Turmeric is associated with Okinawan longevity and healthy living. A bowl of turmeric powder tea can be prepared in a similar way as you would prepare a bowl of matcha. It has a pleasant pungency with fruity-floral aromas that evoke aromatic citrus and flowers. This type of turmeric features a lustrous reddish-golden saffron color. The flavor and aroma make a nice shot or addition to sparkling or still water, tea infusions, mango, pineapple and fruit smoothies, steamed-milk latté drinks, chai recipes or any recipe that calls for turmeric.

Preparation

Whisk 1 teaspoon of Red Turmeric in 100 mL of hot water, in the same way as making Matcha, drink this powder as is, dilute it with water to taste or sweeten with honey.

Red Turmeric powder blends into smoothies well and can be added to dishes, drinks or recipes where turmeric is called upon. Red Turmeric and Fresh Mango with a hit of Lime and Red Chili makes a really great blended smoothie.

Add 1-2 teaspoons of Red Turmeric powder to a cup of hot water. Add honey, lemon or your favorite drink ingredients to this delicious cup of turmeric tea. Sometimes we use a tea or herbal infusion in place of the hot water to prepare Red Turmeric. It can pair well with chai blends, ginger, pineapple, passion fruits, hibiscus and all types of citrus.

Mingjian Village

Nantou County, Taiwan

Around the world, Taiwan is well-known as a country that produces highly specialized teas. The Mingjian Village is situated in the central highlands of Nantou, Taiwan and the gardens here are incredible. Jui Lung focuses on the importance of allowing nature to nurture the grounds. This can be seen in one of the small Wu-Yi gardens, which has Hong Yu 18 trees on the borders, culinary herbs between the tea bush rows and plenty of nitrogen fixing “weeds” to maintain healthy and living soils all surrounding the tea bushes.
