The Best Teas for Winter

When winter flavors come to mind, notes of ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg often lead the way. While these spices are closely associated with seasonal baking, they also shine in thoughtfully crafted organic teas — perfect for quiet evenings with a warm cup in hand. Our winter teas collection explores a range of herbal blends, warming spices, and traditionally used botanicals selected to support comfort during the colder months. Each winter tea blend is thoughtfully curated to ensure you enjoy the aroma and flavor of our premium ingredients.

How to Brew a Cozy Winter Tea

Rishi Tea & Botanicals offers a wide variety of blends, so we recommend reviewing the brewing instructions on each product page for best results. Many of our winter teas are well suited to water heated between 195℉ and 200℉, with a steep time of 4-5 minutes. For most blends, use 1.5 tablespoons per 12 oz teapot. For Pu’er teas, we recommend 1.5 tablespoons per 5-7 oz of water, with significantly shorter steeping times (often less than one minute) to produce a bold, full-bodied cup. Please note that Pu’er tea follows a unique preparation method, typically involving a brief rinse of the leaves and multiple short infusions.

The best winter tea depends on personal preference, but many tea drinkers are partial to Chai tea in the winter due to its blend of warming spices, including ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and nutmeg. Others prefer calming herbal options that support a sense of calm and comfort, featuring ingredients such a chamomile, lavender or peppermint.

Ginger tea is a popular choice when you’re feeling under the weather, as it offers a warming character and a naturally soothing cup. Choose a green tea and ginger blend for a balance of brightness and gentle stimulation.
