It doesn’t have to be hot outside to enjoy an excellent hibiscus tea. Brewed around the world in places like Africa, India and South America, hibiscus flowers have origins tracing back to Egypt and Sudan, where they historically held a deep spiritual and medicinal importance. Notable for its bright color, floral flavor and tartness, it's no wonder the hibiscus flower has been celebrated by cultures worldwide. Caffeine-free and excellent hot or iced, the teas in this collection are a phenomenal way to refresh yourself and recharge, whether you’re using a botanical hibiscus powder or brewing a pot of loose leaf tea.
This tea is simple to brew in loose leaf or sachet form. For a hot tea, we suggest brewing 1.5 tablespoons of loose leaf hibiscus tea with 12 ounces of hot water for 3 to 5 minutes. For an iced tea, simply brew for a few minutes longer and pour over ice.
Our botanical tea powders are just as easy to use. Add 2 teaspoons of powder to 2 ounces of hot water until dissolved, then add 6 ounces of cold water. Sweeten to your taste and enjoy!
No. While traditional tea is grown from the Camellia sinensis plant, these teas come from the Hibiscus sabdariffa plant (aka “Hibiscus Roselle”), not to be confused with the common ornamental Hibiscus rosa-sinensis flower. As such, these are considered herbal teas.
No, our hibiscus teas are naturally caffeine-free.
No, hibiscus is simply the common name for the flower, which is also known as Jamaica (hu-MY-kuh), Roselle, or red Sorrel. Regardless of the name, all of these flowers are the same plant.
Interested in exploring beyond our Hibiscus powder? Our tea powders are an excellent way to try unique profiles and iced tea mixes, without the mixology know-how. Simply add your powder to a small volume of hot water, and top up the rest with a liquid of your choice. Perfect for beachside gatherings or a start-of-the-week batch brew, our powdered teas bring ease and versatility to your tea traditions.
