Description
We drew upon only two ingredients to conjure Bergamot Sarsaparilla. Both herbs are powerhouses with long histories of medicinal use. South Indian Sarsaparilla, also known as Hemidesmus indicus (false sarsaparilla), has been used as an anti-inflammatory tonic, blood cleanser and vitality herb since ancient times. Traditionally, this root has been applied as a synergist to enhance digestion and for detoxification. It is considered a sacred herb in Ayurveda and is a Rasayana herb, which in Sanskrit means "Path of Essence". Rasayana refers to vitality, enhancement of health, and overall wellness and is a specialized segment of Ayurveda.
South Indian Sarsaparilla has higher contents of cinnamon, vanilla and cola aromatic compounds, and is high in antioxidants. It is perhaps best known as the key ingredient of root beer. Though there are many concerns in reference to Smilax aristolochiifolia, Mexican Sarsaparilla or Smilax ornate, Jamaican sarsaparilla for liver health, the South Indian variety could be considered a safer option and is used widely in herbal teas and beverages.
Bergamot essential oil is not an uncommon ingredient for Earl Grey tea blends but the whole dried and ground fruit certainly is. We source bergamot peels for the floral, zesty, and complex citrusy aroma housed in the rind of the fruit. Bergamot Citrus fruit has been studied for its functions of anti-bacterial, anti-viral and high antioxidant activity for health. Love this tea
Intrigued by the description of this tea, I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed--it is a
...
big, rich, round, warm, earthy mix. It is a complex flavor and experience, not easy to describe... somewhat medicinal, strong, full, brave, complete... like holding a cherry in your mouth. Excellent hot or cold, try it slightly sweetened with ice on a hot day for a grown-up root beer feel. I hope this blend sticks around, I will definitely add it to my favorites list.

Unique and complex flavor
I love this tea! A savory flavor, with stubble sweet aftertaste. The bergamot balances the sarsaparilla
...
perfectly. They is a slight root beer flavor from the sarsaparilla. Highly recommend if you are looking for a unique, and healthy, new tea to try.
