About This Tea

Our selection of Golden Buds features single-bud plucks from the Fengqing Da Ye Zhong and Yunkang Da Ye Zhong tea cultivars of Lincang, Yunnan. This tea is expertly oxidized in small batches according to wrapped-pile oxidation tactics developed in the 1950s. This is an amazing smooth and sweet selection of pure buds black tea with a unique chocolate note and golden needles appearance. Yunnan Dian Hong Golden Buds is an excellent tea for brewing in the gongfu style, using a gaiwan to capture and savor the lingering, caramelized sweetness that this tea has to offer. Our Dian Hong Golden Buds is grown in a biodiverse and exceptionally well-managed organic tea garden in Wa Shan, a lush mountainous region of southwestern Yunnan named after the Wa ethnic tribe who have farmed tea in this area for centuries.

Traditional Tea Preparation

Add 5g to a gaiwan or gongfu teapot (per 150mL).

Don’t rinse this tea.

Use water cooled to 200°F.

Infuse the first brew for 2 minutes.

Repeat several times until the flavor and aroma of the tea dissipates. As the brewing session ensues, increase the infusion time to coax out the body and strength of the final infusions.

Surrounded by a lush and biodiverse mountainous region, this certified organic tea farm is one we have been working with since 2013. Wa Shan is a famous tea mountain since ancient times named after the Wa ethnic minority who have farmed tea in this region for more than a thousand years.
