Fuding Silver Needles
Cotton candy, wildflowers, slight spice,
savory sweetness
About this tea
Fuding Silver Needles is a heritage white tea from the coastal town of Fuding, a famous white tea producing region situated in mist-enshrouded mountainsides that overlook an estuary flowing to the sea. The savory quality in the white teas grown in Fuding is attributed to the maritime air flow and the oceanic minerals in the basalt rich soil of these gardens.
This special batch was harvested during the Mingqian season in early spring, when the most prized white teas of the year are made with the first tea buds that sprout once per year in the new tea harvest season. The big buds and tender leaves of the Fuding Da Hao tea bush cultivar planted in these gardens have a silvery-white down coating of sweet trichomes that give the tea a shimmering and beautiful appearance.
Authentic Fuding white teas are known to be highly stimulating and energetic because of the amino acids, caffeine and other tea nutrients that are concentrated in the first flush buds of spring’s new growth. Unlike others, Fuding white teas have a sublime and elegant balance of oceanic umami and savory flavors with complex notes of delicate spices and cotton candy sweetness.
