Origin: Jinggu County, Yunnan Province, China Cultivar: Jinggu Da Bai Elevation: 1,200 m Harvest: March 15-30, 2022
Snow Buds, or 雪芽 Xue Ya in Chinese, is a snowy white, trichome covered green tea from the early spring harvests of Yunnan. This style of green tea is typically found in Fujian and made with the local Fujian white tea cultivars like Fuding Da Bai or Da Hao, but in this case, this batch was commissioned from a Yunnan grower outside of Pu’er City using the tea cultivar known as Jinggu Da Bai or literally “Big White from Jinggu County.” This garden’s factory uses a small tumble roaster and oven to gently fix and bake the tea into something that is dynamic and aromatic with the right balance of roast and original cultivar characteristics. Only small batch, artisan craftmanship can achieve this type of finely produced Yunnan baked green tea.
