Japan is renowned for its tea agriculture and analysis of both existing and new cultivars.
The Shizu 7132 tea bush cultivar was developed in the late 1960s and is prized by Japanese tea lovers for its distinctive cherry blossom aroma and dynamic flavor profile.
Recently, Japanese food scientists identified the aromatic compound in Machiko tea leaves as being responsible for the unique spicy and fruity fragrance associated with this breed of tea bush.
Mr. Sugiyama San grows organic Machiko 7132 at his farm in the Shimizu region of Shizuoka for us each year. He is one of the few farmers in Shizuoka who grows Machiko 7132 according to certified organic practices.
