This high mountain micro-lot is made from purely wild buds harvested from ancient Snow Shan tea trees in Northern Vietnam by the Dao Ethnic people during early spring. These ancient trees of Ha Giang Province are highly revered in Vietnam and China for the complexity of their tannin structure and richness of flavor. This tea was processed minimally, revealing beautiful aromas of magnolia, fresh honeysuckles, ripe nectarine, and apricot preserves. These uniquely shaped, wild buds are hand-plucked from tea trees that are over 400 years old. They resemble young magnolia buds and are cloaked in layers of pink, purple, scarlet and grey-ish colored leaves. People in the region often call this type of tea “fairy tea” because in order to harvest the buds from the large mossy, lichen coated trees, the harvesters look like woodland fairies levitating in the misty treetops. When brewing, note the lovely light hue of the liquor brewed from the frosted buds.
