Set high in the Himalayas, Darjeeling is cherished by connoisseurs for yielding teas of extraordinary aromatic depth and complexity. The Chamong tea plantation was established in 1871 in the high mountain hillsides of the Rongbong Valley with altitude ranging from 1150-1850 meters above sea level. Chamong tea gardens have amazing biodiversity and are surrounded by towering, deciduous forests that are home to monkey tribes. The microclimate that exists in this high mountain valley causes the tea to grow gradually. The steady and slow leaf development of the spring flush in Darjeeling concentrates and accentuates remarkable multi-floral and fruity aromas. Darjeeling is regarded as the “Champagne of Tea,” while each garden and slope section in Darjeeling carries its own signature fragrance and flavor characteristics. The eagerly anticipated First Flush harvest in March-April produces teas with vivacious energy and flavors that captures the essence of spring and this amazing tea region.
